The Minnesota Student Inventors Congress (MSIC) focuses on creativity, problem-solving and higher-order thinking skills.
- In 1986, the Minnesota Inventors Congress, Minnesota Educational Cooperative Service Unit Association, and the Minnesota Academic Excellence Foundation began cosponsoring a statewide program for students. The Minnesota Student Inventors Congress is designed to meet the needs of students who have the ability to envision and create new ideas as well as the flexibility to recognize and adapt existing ideas to future use. Today the MSIC is a program of the Minnesota Inventors Congress.
- The first public event where students showcased their inventions was in 1987.
