Deb Hess, Executive Director
Greetings and welcome to the world of innovation.
As a non-profit organization, we provide year round access to reliable information about how to develop your idea, at no cost to you. Yes, it is FREE!
If you have an idea and want to learn how successful inventors develop marketable products we can help you!
We offer two major programs:
Inventors Resource Center.
Since 1985, through our year round office and knowledgeable staff, inventors are taught that the most importance investment they can make is to learn how successful inventors develop marketable products. By directing inventors to reliable resources we help them understand that by being intimately involved in the process they will be able to make the best decisions for them. We also provide information that is available from the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the Federal Trade Commission about invention promotion firms.
Annual invention expo.
Since 1958 we have hosted an invention show in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. This event provides inventors an opportunity to test market their product(s). We also host Inventing Success™ Workshops. For more info: click on the Invention & Idea Show link in the header bar above.
We also coordinate the Minnesota Student Inventors Congress.
The Minnesota Inventors Congress provides an opportunity for a select group of Minnesota students to participate in its annual invention expo, through the Minnesota Student Inventors Congress program. Students who have put into practice the skills developed in the curriculum are invited to exhibit their products on the showroom floor in the same hall as the other exhibitors. They answer questions from the public and receive feedback about their idea. During the event a special workshop is hosted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the students and their families. Feedback over the years has been exceptionally positive from both the parents and the students. MIC staff also partner with other organizations to bring creativity and innovation thinking skills to students through other venues that meet the mission of the organization.
I encourage you to spend time looking through the Inventor Resources section of the site and if you are interested in more information about the invention expo click on the Invention & Idea Show link. If you would like to talk to a human being you can call me at 800.468.3681.
Our typical office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CT, closed over the noon hour.
